SCR 274-N

The 274-N set comprises a receiver box, transmitter box, and filter switch box control.

6 to 9.1 Mc. Above and to the left of each dial is a selector switch for A and B receiver channels. This switch is normally in A.

RECEIVER BOX

The receiver box has three dials, one for each of the three separate receiver units. The first dial is set for 3 to 6 Mc; the second for 190 to 550 Kc; the third for

Above and to the right of each dial there is a battery switch with three positions: CW (code), OFF, and MCW (voice). This switch is ordinarily in the MCW position for receiving voice.

Below and to the right of each dial is a small tuning crank which turns the dial. Below and to the left is the volume control.

FILTER SWITCH BOX

The filter switch box must be used in conjunction with the receiver boxes. It has three positions: RANGE, VOICE, or BOTH.

TRANSMITTER BOX

The transmitter box has controls for four transmitting frequencies. The P-40 usually carries two transmitters, only one of which can be used at a time. The transmitters are pre-set on different frequencies which are recorded in the write-in space on the control box.

The transmitter control box has a battery switch with OFF and ON positions; an emission switch with TONE, CW, and VOICE positions a transmitter selector switch with which you choose the transmitter desired; and a key on top of the box to transmit code.
