All P-40's (except a few early P-40 N's) contain a front wing tank, main wing tank and fuselage tank. Tank capacities are shown in the following table:

At the normal fuel consumption of 50 to 60 gallons per hour you have about 2% hours of safe operation in a P-40.

Note: Formation flying, in which power settings constantly change, greatly increases your fuel consumption.

A belly tank, varying from 52 to 150 gallons in capacity, can be installed for additional range.

The fuel is carried to your engine by an engine-driven fuel pump and/or an electrodes booster pump. When starting the engine, and for all normal operations, the electric booster pump should be ON.
