CANOPY

The cockpit is enclosed by a sliding plexiglas canopy and protected in front by a bullet-proof windshield.

The canopy is opened and shut by a crank handle on the right side of the cockpit. At the base of the crank is a locking lever. When the lever is depressed, a locking peg on the crank catches in one of three holes, locking the canopy in place. When the lever is out, the crank is free to turn. Always be sure the lever is out when you leave the cockpit. When the lever is out, you can open and shut the canopy by giving it a shove forward or backward f from the outside.

The canopy has two emergency releases. One is above your head when the canopy is closed.

This release disengages the whole canopy and allows the slipstream to carry it off during flight.

Note: When the canopy is tightly closed the slipstream sometimes falls to dislodge it. If this happens you can easily dump the canopy by giving it a slight push up or back.

The second emergency canopy release is on the left side of the canopy. This opens only the side panel. You can operate it from either inSide or outside.

The canopy must be closed and locked during all aerobatics and maneuvers in which the speed exceeds cruising.
