The place to find out if there is
anything wrong is on the ground.
After you are in the cockpit but before you start the
engine, go through this procedure:
1. Check your Form 1A
for servicing, pilot's remarks, and condition of the
airplane. Question the crew chief about the airplane
before you take off.
2. Adjust seat, safety
belt, shoulder harness, and rudder pedals.
3. Check the throat
mike, headset and radio. Adjust the mike to fit snugly
around your neck.

4. See that the canopy emergency releases are locked.
5. Make the following left to right cockpit check.
a. Flap handle-NEUTRAL.

b. Landing gear-DOWN.
|
c. Trim tabs-Rudder 20 right;
elevator-T.O.
|
d. Throttle quadrant-1/4 open.
|
e. Propeller switches-ON and AUTO.
|
f . Oxygen pressure-not less than 350 psi. if
you are making an altitude flight.

g. Carburetor heat control-COLD.
|
h. Coolant shutters-OPEN.
|
i. Check fuel gages. (When the airplane is at
rest, the wing tank gages show 10-15 gallons
less than there actually is in the tank.)
