1. Start warming up the engine at 800-1000 rpm until the oil pressure remains steady at 60-70 psi.

2. When the oil pressure no longer fluctuates and the temperature begins to rise, gradually increase engine speed to 1400 rpm. The minimum oil temperature at 1400 rpm or over is 15'.

3. If icing conditions exist, move the carburetor air control to HOT.

4. Oil pressure should not exceed 120 psi during warm-up and oil temperature should be 60ú to 80ú, with maximum of 85'. Fuel pressure for idling should be 12 to 15 psi:

5. Avoid prolonged ground running of the engine. After warm-up has been completed, set propeller selector switch to FIXED PITCH and advance the throttle to 28" Hg. Move the propeller selector switch to INC RPM or DEC RPM to get 2200 rpm.

a. To test the magnetos and sparkplugs, move the ignition switch from BOTH to L, back to

BOTH, then to R, and back to BOTH. The normal loss on one magneto should not exceed 80 rpm.

b. Check the fuel and oil pressure and oil and coolant temperature.

c. Return the propeller selector switch to AUTO and push the propeller control all the way forward.

d. Vary the engine speed f from 2300 to 2000 rpm with the propeller control. The manifold pressure should not vary more than. 1" Hg.

e. To test the automatic operation of the propeller, pull back on propeller control until tachometer shows a loss of 200 rpm. Note that the tachometer maintains the reduced setting. Return the propeller control to takeoff setting, noting that the original rpm is regained.

f. If the battery is fully charged the ammeter indicates no charge. Depress the landing gear toggle switch, and watch the ammeter-it should show a charge of at least 5 to 10 amps.
